Benefits of Laundry Duct Cleaning
March 24, 2017 – by Tony Earnshaw
Ventilation ducts are important in many types of premises, but particularly in laundries, where it’s vital to have a good air circulation and there are also likely to be ducts used specifically by dryers. There is, however, a problem if fibres and lint from clothing are allowed to build up in the ducts, as they become a fire hazard as well as a breeding ground for bacteria. This in turn can lead to poor air quality for the workforce.
Laundry ducts are found in a variety of different premises including hospitals and care homes, as well as commercial laundries and laundrettes. Having them cleaned by a specialist ensures that the job is done correctly and to a high standard.
An expert will first carry out an inspection to determine how dirty the ducts are. Based on this they may recommend a regular schedule of inspection & cleaning, usually every six to 12 months to ensure your ducts are kept clean & safe.
Ducting for dryers will usually have filters in place. As part of the cleaning task, these will be checked to make sure they’re correctly fitted and they’ll be cleaned too. Any lint and dust that escapes during the cleaning process will be cleared up too.
Laundry Duct Cleaning Standards
All cleaning of filters and duct work should be carried out to the standards set out in the TR-19 industry code of good practice. This not only ensures the work is done to a high standard but also provides assurance that the job is done correctly.
Clean laundry ducts will cut fire risk, reduce breakdowns and thus lead to less downtime. It will also satisfy the requirements of your insurance company and lead to a safer, more pleasant working environment for your staff. UK Commercial Cleaning offers laundry duct cleaning services nationwide, so wherever you’re located, there’s no excuse for dirty ducts.
