Air Hygiene Technician Course Overview

The BESA Air Hygiene Technician course provides a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical training. Delegates are assessed on both their understanding of course content and their ability to apply it in real-world scenarios.

Course Content Includes:

  • Safe working practices in air hygiene and ventilation maintenance
  • Core principles of general ventilation ductwork and air handling unit (AHU) maintenance
  • Planning and preparing work environments for safe and efficient operations
  • Cleaning procedures for ventilation systems and related components
  • Sustainable and environmentally responsible working methods
  • Reporting and Pre- and post-clean sampling (including microbial and dust analysis)

All participants must hold a recognised health and safety qualification before enrolling. Accepted certifications include:

  • BESA Academy Online Health, Safety & Environment Test Certificate
  • CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test Certificate (for operatives)
  • CCNSG (Client Contractor National Safety Group) Safety Passport – Two-Day Course
  • CITB Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (Note: the General Certificate is not accepted)
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)

Important Info:

  • Doing the course does not guarantee a pass, you must successfully complete the multiple choice paper, Practical assessment & Professional discussion to pass.
  • You have TWO attempts at each multiple choice paper- failure to pass these will result in the need to resit the full training course at full cost.
  • Tea & Coffee is provided on the course however lunch is not ( Lots of places locally to get food)
  • Local Accommodation details can be provided upon booking.
  • Places are limited and must be paid for in full to book the course.

  • Please note: you will need to provide proof of having a minimum of an accredited H&S Operative Certificate. Health & Safety Operative Training Certificate can include:

    • Client Contractors National Safety Group (CCNSG) two day Safety Passport Scheme course

    • National Examination Board of Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Construction Certificate (NOT the General Certificate)

    • The H&S entry requirement is non-negotiable and failure to present a valid certificate before your course will result in you being turned away without a refund.

All of our courses are held at our training centre which is located in our Gateshead Head Office- NE11 0HZ.

Courses run from 10:00 until 16:00 depending on the level of experience of the trainees.
