When is the Right Time for Kitchen Deep Cleaning?

Kitchen deep cleaning should be a part of your routine if you run a commercial kitchen. Not only does it help you stay organised and keep your kitchen running smoothly, it’s also the best way to ensure you stay on top of your health and safety regulations. However, commercial kitchens are busy places and sometimes it can be hard to know when the right time is for your deep kitchen cleaning to be carried out.

Why Do I Need Deep Kitchen Cleaning?
A professional deep kitchen cleaning company will have all the equipment and expertise to return your kitchen to a ‘good as new’ state, but why is that so important. Firstly, bacteria is invisible which means there could be areas in your kitchen that are being missed by general cleaning that a kitchen cleaning company will seek out.
In addition, the build-up of grease, grime and dirt in ovens, vents and extractor fans cause your machinery to work less efficiently so the worse the dirt gets, the more you will be spending on energy. Also, this type of dirt build up can be dangerous as it leads to an increased risk of fire.

When to Clean
A good cleaning company will tailor their services to your schedule, even carrying out cleaning overnight if that’s the least disruptive way to do it. However, you can still pick a time that will be most beneficial to you by assessing how your business runs.
For example, in schools and colleges the summer break is an ideal time for kitchen cleaning as the chances are, your kitchen will be at its dirtiest by this point and it won’t be in use whilst students are on holiday.
If you run a restaurant, café or gastro pub, then consider when your slowest periods are and schedule your cleaning around this time. For example, just after New Year and the height of summer are generally times when people eat out less.

How Often Do I Need to Clean?
The number of deep cleans you have throughout a year is entirely up to you, but all commercial kitchens should have a deep clean annually. In very busy kitchens it may be necessary to carry out deep cleaning more often, so speak to your deep kitchen cleaning company and let them come and assess your kitchen so they can give you a better idea of how often cleaning should be undertaken.

Chemicals and Detergents
When you speak to your kitchen cleaning company, ask them about the equipment and materials they use to clean. Whilst chemicals may be appropriate for some kitchens they may not be a good idea in others, but these days, most deep kitchen cleaning companies utilise powerful steam cleaners to get rid of dirt, so there may not be a need to use chemicals at all.

So whether your kitchen is in a hospital, care home, school or restaurant, make sure you stay on top of health and safety with professional deep kitchen cleaning.
