Air Hygiene Operative & Air Hygiene Technician

Course overview:

Delegates will be shown training on the practical & theory side of the AHO & AHT course, assessments on both will be required for successful completion. Final assessment is in the form of a multiple choice question paper two assessments one for AHO and one for AHT (you are able to have 2 attempts at each theory paper, failure to pass after 2 attempts would lead to needing a full resit of the course at full price, a practical assessment and a professional discussion.

The AHO Practical & Theory sessions include:

• Preparing your work environment.
• Safe working practices including H&S.
• The principles behind a Air Extraction System and the components that can go with it.
• Cleaning of air Extraction Systems as well as methods & equipment.

The AHT Practical & Theory sessions include:

• Supervising teams and allocating work.
• Understanding and completing RAMS
• Pre & post clean verification and testing.

Knowledge taught within the Air Cleaning Course:

• H&S in the workplace including PPE
• Understanding how an air extraction system works and its components.
• Prepare the work environment, PPE & equipment selection.
• Selecting a location, preparing and fitting access panels (various cutting methods).
• Using different cleaning methods, the most practical solutions & how to safely carry out a clean.
• Housekeeping after a clean.
• Supervising a team and showing how to lead.
• Understand & put into practice pre & post clean testing and reporting.

Important Info:

• Doing the course does not guarantee a pass, you must successfully complete the multiple choice paper, Practical assessment & Professional discussion to pass.
• You have TWO attempts at each multiple choice paper- failure to pass these will result in the need to resit the full training course at full cost.
• Tea & Coffee is provided on the course however lunch is not ( Lots of places locally to get food)

Health & safety requirements:

• Please note: you will need to provide proof of having a minimum of an accredited H&S Operative Certificate. Health & Safety Operative Training Certificate can include:
  • BESA Academy Online Health Safety Environment test certificate- Course – The BESA 
  • CITB  Health, Safety and Environment test certificate
  • Client Contractors National Safety Group (CCNSG) two day Safety Passport Scheme course
  • CITB Supervisory Site Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course
  • Client Contractors National Safety Group (CCNSG) two day Safety Passport Scheme course
  • National Examination Board of Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Construction Certificate (NOT the General Certificate)
  • Institute of Safety & Health (IOSH) Managing Safely

The course is covered over 5 day’s training (sometimes shortened to 4 depending on how fast the training goes) and assessment and you are provided with an electronic BESA certificate upon successful completion,

All of our courses are held at our training centre which is located in our Gateshead Head Office- NE11 0HZ.

Courses run from 10:00 until 16:00 depending on the level of experience of the trainees.
