We’re All Set to Take on the Great North Run for Sara’s Hope

As a national commercial cleaning company, we are always looking to give something back and since our inception we have supported a number of charities and initiatives to share the love throughout the North East of England and beyond. This year was no exception!

With the Great North Run fast approaching, we thought that the world’s greatest half marathon would provide the ideal opportunity to support a children’s cancer charity that so many people rely on. With only a limited number of training days left, we’re all set to take on the Great North Run for Newcastle-upon-Tyne based charity, Sara’s Hope Foundation.

Sharing Sara’s story

Sara’s Hope Foundation was set up by Ged and Julie Hoburn in memory of their daughter the late Sara Hoburn, a teenager with a truly inspirational story. After a two year battle with a rare form of colon cancer at the tender age of 16, she lost her fight in 2001, but her story and legacy has helped children and young people with cancer and their families create their own memories and get some much needed respite at such difficult times.

The charity now aims to give smiles, hope and precious memories to families in the UK affected by the devastating impact of cancer from their holiday retreat in Crete. Since their establishment, Sara’s Hope Foundation has helped thousands of individuals with life changing medical issues, and needs our support to continue their inspiring work.

The road to the Great North Run

We’re not going to lie, the road to the Great North Run hasn’t been easy, but doing this to raise funds for such an inspirational charity has been our main motivator. We are proud to support the amazing work carried out by Ged, Julie and the rest of the Sara’s Hope team, and we hope that our first fundraising activity on behalf of this particular charity will help them share Sara’s story a little further afield and raise the all-important funds they need.

The UK Commercial Cleaning Solutions team will be taking on the Great North Run on the 13th September 2015. Known as the world’s greatest half marathon, this year’s event is set to see over 57,000 runners make the 13.1 mile journey from Newcastle city centre to the coast of South Shields.
